Small business course to begin
Tuesday, July 09, 2002
DOVER-FOXCROFT--The Incubator Without Walls project, an initiative to help start and expand businesses with five or fewer employees, will hold an informational session on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:00 pm at Penquis CAP, 50 North Street, Dover-Foxcroft. The next course runs from August 21 through December 18. Classes are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

Individuals who become Incubator members learn the basics of running a small business. This training stresses that good management, effective marketing and financial controls lead to increased profits, and that business planning leads to business growth, profits and personal satisfaction. Classes are frequently augmented with guest speakers from the local business community, allowing participants to network with local accountants, web designers, bankers, insurance agents and an array of other experts.

Local professionals and small business owners alike give their time and talents to the program. Penquis CAP recognizes Carol Ripley of Carol's Country Crafts, Mark Awalt of JSI Store Fixtures and Rollin Thurlow of Northwoods Canoe Company for taking part in the panel of entrepreneurs who spoke at the Incubator Project's graduation in June.

The course and the Business Training Manual are free. An application is required. Call 564-7116 for more information.
