PENQUIS - Members from five area snowmobile clubs held their second meeting with the Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Task Force to discuss the forming a snowmobile loop trail for the Southern Piscataquis Valley Region. The goal of the proposed snowmobile loop trail will be to attract snowmobilers to Southern County Region to ride a well defined and marked loop trail said Chamber Director Dennis Lyford. The proposed loop is shaped like a figure eight and will using existing snowmobile trails. The Chamber goal will to include links to all communities and snowmobile clubs who wish to take part in the loop project explained Lyford. The meeting center on the need for trail signage and how best to market this new snowmobile loop. The Chamber plans a third meeting with local clubs on August 27th at the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft at 6:30PM.
