The Becoming An OutdoorsWoman (BOW) program
Monday, August 18, 2003
The Becoming An OutdoorsWoman (BOW) program, sponsored by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, is up and running again in 2003. BOW is aimed primarily at women 18 and over, and seeks to provide introductory learning experiences in a variety of outdoor skills, including hunting, fishing and general outdoor recreation. This year, the 3-day workshop at Bishopswood Camp in Hope will offer 32 different choices of activities in 4 separate 4-hour strands, from Friday afternoon through Sunday noon. If you've always wanted to learn to handle a firearm, shoot an arrow, fly fish, spin cast for bass, canoe, kayak, do outdoor photography, carve a duck decoy, mountain bike, backpack and hike, or cook on a campfire, this workshop is for you! Applications are available online at www.mefishwildlife.com. The workshop is about 3/4 full already with a 100-person maximum, so it's time to get your applications in now! The fee for room, board (fabulous food) and all equipment is $190.00. Some partial scholarship funds are available. For more information, please call the Department Information Center at 207-287-8000.
