DOVER-FOXCROFT - David Lockwood of Bowerbank received the Irving Talberth Award as the region's top club secretary at the annual New England District Kiwanis convention held Aug. 22-24 at Danvers, Mass. Lockwood, secretary for the Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft, was the only secretary so honored out of the 212 clubs in the district, which includes all six New England states and Bermuda. Dover-Foxcroft also received numerous awards at the club level and was one of 28 clubs in the New England district to earn the Distinguished Club Award for 2002-2003. Immediate past president Tom Lizotte and secretary Lockwood were recognized as Distinguished Officers. Dover-Foxcroft received the Governor's Award for public relations, and received numerous awards in the interclub category for its efforts at holding interclub meetings with other Division 2 members. Interclub honors include the Early Bird Award, First Place for the Blue Division, Governor's Award and Governor's Special Award, and the International District Achievement Award for having over 50% of club members attend at least one interclub. The Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Club was formed 65 years ago. The community service organization has 60 members and holds breakfast meetings 6:30 a.m. every Tuesday at the Foxcroft Academy Student Center. |
