**********************Important Meeting!**********************

Dear Chamber Board and Members,

The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to attend a special meeting with the Penquis Tourism Coalition on Tuesday October 2.2001 from 7:3 0-9am at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA in Dover-Foxcroft.

Please try to attend this special meeting to be updated on the progress of the Penquis Tourism Coalition (PTC). PTC's mission is to promote and market this beautiful region of Maine in order to boost our region economically. This Chamber, along with other Chambers and organizations in Piscataquis and Penobscot County, are members of the PTC since we all understand the importance of pooling our limited resources in order be successful in our marketing efforts!

At this meeting, you will meet PTC's new marketing director, Tracy Michaud Stutzman, who is a native of the region, growing up in Dover-Foxcroft. Since returning to her hometown after graduate school, Tracy has been working on regional cultural heritage projects in Piscataquis County. She is excited to join PTC's regional effort. You will also meet Adrian Fox of BFT-Int., a marketing and communications firm that PTC has hired to develop marketing materials for the region.

This meeting is very important to attend since PTC will be reviewing the projects that the membership dues of our Chamber are helping to accomplish. BFT will be presenting to you the current projects PTC is working on, including the development of a new logo for the region. You will also be updated on the progress of the regional guidebook BFT is putting together for us. This guidebook is meant to be an introduction to the area for visitors and will include highlights of the natural and cultural resources throughout this region. This guidebook will be used by our chamber and other organizations as a major promotional piece. Although not every single attraction in our area will be included in the guidebook, through highlighting the most prominent resources in the region, everyone benefits as visitors discover new places, people and businesses once they get here. (This type of marketing strategy has been extremely successful in other regions that have adopted it).

Our involvement and your input into the Penquis Tourism Coalition's efforts are vital for success. I hope that I will see you there! Refreshments will be provided.

Sincerely
Dennis Lyford
