Thirteen Barbecue teams and eight bands along with a Maine artisan show U.S. Army climbing wall paint, craft demonstrations, Chili grilling and sauces contests will featured at the second annual Piscataquis Heritage Festival scheduled for September 27th and 28th at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds in Dover-Foxcroft. The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring the festival. The Chamber is encouraged with the response to this year festival said Chamber Director Dennis Lyford. Lyford explained that the Maine State BBQ Contest has 13 teams from four states who have pre registered for the event and the two- day Bluegrass Concert has 8 bands scheduled to perform. The Chamber has also received a number of inquiries from Southern Maine asking for festival information. This is every encouraging said Lyford the main goal of the festival is to attract visitors to our region. The Festival will feature the State of Maine Barbecue Championship Contest on Saturday and will be followed with a Chili, sauces and grilling contest on Sunday The Bluegrass concert will be held on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the gates will open at 10 AM and close at 9 PM. On Sunday the gates will reopen at 10AM and close at 4PM. Admission will be $15.00 on Saturday 10 AM-6PM and $10 from 6 PM to 9 PM. Sunday admission will $12.00.per person. Children 14 and under are free if accompanied by a paying adult.
