The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce will meet with representative from the local snowmobile clubs at 6:30 PM Wednesday October 29th at the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft. The Chamber and local snowmobile clubs have been meeting over the last several months to discuss the formation of regional snowmobile loop trail explained Chamber Director Dennis Lyford. The snowmobile loop trail is a long range goal of the Chamber said Lyford. Meetings with the local snowmobile clubs have suggested that the region at present lacks the capacity to create the regional loop for the upcoming season. The regional loop will need one to two years to develop said Lyford, in the meantime the chamber would like to work with the local snowmobile clubs to promote local club actives and trails for the up coming season. The Chamber also will try to develop a link between the snowmobile clubs; the business community and local government to help address issues that effect snowmobiling in our region said Lyford. The chamber is considering creating a local web site devoted snowmobiling and possibly organizing a tour of local snowmobile trails for business and local government leaders. The meeting on Oct 29th is open to all local snowmobile clubs and any one else who is interested local snowmobiling said Lyford. The goal of the meeting will to make the Chamber aware of any changes in the local trail systems and any upcoming snowmobile event for 2004. The local clubs are encouraged to bring any updated trail maps they may have to the meeting said Lyford. If you have any questions about the snowmobile meeting please contact the chamber at 564-7533. |
