Hunting day begins ½ hour before sunrise
Monday, October 28, 2002
AUGUSTA, Maine - Hunters are reminded that they must wear two articles of hunter orange clothing in good and serviceable condition and visible from all sides. One article must be a solid colored hunter orange hat and the other must cover a major portion of the torso, such as a jacket, vest coat or poncho and it must be a minimum of 50% hunter orange in color.

Hunters are reminded that legal hunting hours for deer begin a half an hour before sunrise and end 15 minutes after sunset. A sunrise/sunset table is available in the 2002 Hunting and Trapping Law book and from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. All times in the table are Eastern Standard time.

On November 2, opening day for Maine residents, the legal hunting hours are from 5:48 a.m. until 4:42 p.m. Monday, November 4, is opening day for all hunters and the legal hunting hours are from 5:51 a.m. until 4:47 p.m.
