Maine Recycles Week Coming Soon
Tuesday, November 06, 2001
MAINE - November 8-15: Maine Recycles Week (MRW) is an annual statewide campaign to promote recycling efforts and the importance of buying products with recycled content. MRW reaches out to every school and municipality in the state, encouraging recycling education and participation at the local level.

This year MRW offers the annual School Participation Contest that challenges schools to celebrate recycling by incorporating waste management activities into their curricula for the week, holding recycling related events, working with the community to promote recycling, etc and the MRW 2001 Poster Contest is open to all schoolchildren (public, private and home-schooled) in grades K-12. One poster will be chosen from each grade and used to create a 2002 Recycle Maine Calendar.

New this year, the Municipal Campaign Contest challenges Maine municipalities to develop and implement new educational campaigns aimed at promoting recycling at the local level. The municipal campaign contest entries will be judged according to pre-set criteria and prizes will be awarded to the top communities. For a complete list of MRW 2001 events, visit the State Planning Office web site at www.recyclemaine.com
