The Chamber Gift Certificates program is based on a successful pilot program in Dover- Foxcroft held during the 2002 holiday season. The goal of the program is to encourage people to support the local economy by shopping in local stores and businesses explained Chamber Executive Director Dennis Lyford.

The Chamber was encouraged by the results of last year�s pilot program; said Lyford the Chamber sold over $3,000 worth of certificates and as a result, the Chamber has decided to expand the program to include the entire Southern Piscataquis County Region.

The Chamber is encouraged by the early results of this years program, to date we have commitments to purchase over $9,000 worth of certificates from several local businesses said Lyford. The certificate covers a wide range of goods and services any thing from.

Whitewater rafting to Bingo, these certificates make wonderful gifts for that hard to shop for person on your Christmas list explained Lyford.

The Chamber will be selling ten dollar Gift Certificates at fourteen location in the Southern Piscataquis County Region said Lyford. The Certificates may be redeemed at over 70 businesses in Dover-Foxcroft, Milo, Guilford Sebec and Dexter.

The Chamber would like to invite any business organization in the Southern Piscataquis County to join this every successful program.
