Warden Service Swears in New Deputy Warden

AUGUSTA, Maine -- Dan Christianson of Readfield was sworn in by Major Thomas Santaguida as a Deputy Game Warden at the Department's Headquarters in Augusta on Friday, November 21, 2003. He will be assigned to Southern Division and will work under the supervision of Warden Kevin Anderson.

Deputy Christianson is self-employed. He is a graduate of Maranacook High School and a registered Maine guide. Deputy Christianson will be a valuable addition to Southern Division and the Warden Service and he looks forward to his future with the Fish and Wildlife Department. Dan lives in Readfield with is two children Shelea and Steven.

Warden Deputies are volunteers who must be 21 years of age, sponsored by a warden and warden supervisor. They have passed the physical, written and oral exams, as well as a full background check and polygraph examination. The need to have completed the reserve officer training program approved by the Maine Criminal Justice Acadmy, attend all warden in-service training, qualify with a firearm twice a year, continue required training through the CJA. Each year, they must work a minimum of 100 hours as a deputy.
