PENQUIS AREA - In an effort to encourage shopping locally during the upcoming Holiday season the Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce will have Chamber Gift Certificates available for sale. These gifts certificates may be purchased in a ten �dollar ($10.00) denominations and can be redeemed at most local business for merchandise or services. Chamber executive director Dennis Lyford explained that this is a pilot program that will be offered to businesses in Dover-Foxcroft. If the program prove successful, the Chamber plans to offer the program region wide in 2003. Lyford believes that Chamber Gift Certificates is potential a major project for the Chamber in the coming years. The Chamber Gift Certificates may be purchased in three locations in Dover-Foxcroft The Chamber Office on South Street/ Graves Shop N Save and the Bangor Savings Bank. The Chamber believes that the Chamber Gift Certificates will make excellent gift for the hard to shop for person on your Christmas list.
