Dover-Foxcroft will officially begin the Holiday Season on Saturday December 6,2003. Beginning at 4pm the Center Theater doors will open for a Holiday story time for the children of Dover-Foxcroft. Children will be entertained by the reading of traditional Christmas stories by members of the Foxcroft Key Club and student from the Center Theater. At 6pm the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department as made arrangement for Santa Claus to turn on the lights on the town's Christmas tree in Union Square. After the tree lighting young and old alike are encouraged to take part in the traditional singing of Christmas Carol. Also following the tree lighting, children are invited to visit the Cup and Easel (formally the Heart of Maine Caf�) to view Christmas videos on its large screen television. December 6th also mark the beginning of the Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce White Lights Program. Outlining Dover-Foxcroft Homes and Businesses in White lights has be come a holiday tradition started by the Chamber in 1997 explained Chamber Director Dennis Lyford. The Chamber is disappointed that the lighted Christmas parade had to be canceled this year.
