Local Trail Conditions

The Sebec Lake Weather Station reports that six inches of new snow fell on Sunday March 2nd. The station is now reporting total of seventeen inches of snow on ground.

The local snowmobile clubs are busy grooming the local trails, the clubs are reporting trail conditions as good over all.

SAFE ICE GUIDE
News from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office says according to the American Pulpwood Association, safe ice depends on how many people or tons are on it. These thicknesses are for solid, clear blue/black ice on ponds and lakes.
2 inches - one person on foot
3 inches - group in single file
7 1/2 inches - passenger car (2 ton gross)
8 inches - light truck (2 1/2 ton gross)
10 inches - medium truck (3 1/2 ton gross)
12 inches - heavy truck (8 ton gross)
15 inches - 10 tons
30 inches - 70 tons
36 inches - 100 tons
