"Dirty Work at the Crossroads"
WAYSIDE THEATRE presents "Dirty Work at the Crossroads", a melodrama in two acts. The first performance is at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, followed by performances on Saturday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12 at 7:00 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. on June 13.
This 1890's comedy by Bill Johnson tells the tear-jerking story of a country girl and the troubles that beset her through a series of convoluted plots, schemes and mishaps, resulting in a good old-fashioned slapstick comedy - with music.
"Dirty Work" is ably directed and accompanied by Brewer's Clayton W. Smith, who takes part in the drama as C. W. Handy.

Mayo hosts Blood Drive on June 4
Mayo Regional Hospital will be hosting a visit from the American Red Cross mobile unit coach for a community blood drive on Friday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 37-foot-long coach will be located in the front parking lot at Mayo.
Giving blood is completely safe and easy to do, and takes about an hour. Donations are by appointment only, and donors must have a valid ID. Please call Cathy Murray at Mayo, 564-4242, to reserve a time to donate. The drive's goal is to collect 50 units of blood. All who donate may enter for a chance to win the honor of being the Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center/Boston Red Sox blood donor of the game at a Red Sox game this season. Winners will receive a pair of Red Sox tickets, recognition at the game and a special commemorative souvenir.

Portland Museum Tour Tours
On June 14 there will be a "Portland Museum Tour," featuring stops at the waterfront Portland Harbor Museum and also the Victoria Mansion in downtown Portland. Each of these locations is special for those interested in harbor life or stately mansions. Eastern Agency on Aging Outreach for June 2004
Eastern Agency on Aging Community Service Consultant Leslie Lizotte will offer outreach assistance to senior citizens at the following locations in the month of June 2004:

Community jam - global economy
The Third Wednesday Community Jam at The Cup and Easel will be June 16th at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft. Ron Lamb, of Lamb's Berry Farm will host an open discussion on Globalization and its effect on agriculture and other natural resources. Included within this topic will be emphasis on the global political economy's effect on production agriculture. This will be an opportunity to share and gather ideas and resources on this subject. Dover-Foxcroft Domestic Violence Prevention Project seeking participants for Helpline Training
Would you like to join a growing group of volunteers making a difference to victims of domestic abuse?
Womancare's next advocates' training begins June 21, 2004 and will meet June 21, 25 & 28 and July 2 & 9.
The training consists of 10 three hour sessions.

Mayo sponsors Red Cross Babysitter's Course
DOVER-FOXCROFT - The American Red Cross babysitter's training course will be offered by Mayo Regional Hospital's Education Department.
The course will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, June 29 and 30, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Piscataquis room of the Mayo Resource Center. Participants must attend both days. The course is targeted for boys and girls age 11-15, and class size is limited. The cost is $30 per participant, and includes lunch both days. Call Mayo Education Director Cathy Murray at 564-4242 to register.
The babysitter's training covers five core areas: safety and safe play, basic child care, first aid, leadership and professionalism. Using an interactive, multimedia approach in a classroom setting, the course develops competence and life skills in young people.
Each participant will receive a copy of the American Red Cross Babysitter's Handbook, which serves as a resource to reinforce classroom lessons.

Moosehead Historical Society Tour
On June 30, the destination will be "Le Village des Defricheurs" (Pioneer Village) in Saint-Prosper, Quebec (near St. Georges). And no, you don't have to speak French to enjoy this trip! There will also be a guided tour of the Eglise de Ste-Georges, one of the prettiest Catholic churches in all of Quebec Province, as well as a stop at Father Nature, a large vegetable and fruit market known also for its cheeses, French pastries and breads. Another stop will be Fromage D'Or, a cheese manufacturer in St. Georges. On July 8, a coastal get-away will include a scenic drive to the coast and seafood (or other choice) luncheon at the famous Cook's Lobster House on Bailey Island. The small island is also site of the world's only cribstone bridge (which we will cross). After lunch there will be a two-hour scenic boat cruise on Casco Bay to Portland. Moosehead Historical Society Tour
July 22-23 will feature "The Saints" tour of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, St. John and St. Steven, New Brunswick in conjunction with the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the first French settlement in North America (on the St. Croix River). We'll have lunch (included) in St. Andrews, enjoy a city tour of St. Andrews and have time for sightseeing or shopping before heading to St. John and overnight accommodations at the luxurious waterfront Hilton Hotel. There will be options for dinner theater, supper at Market Square and stolling the waterfront and seeing the city sights at night. The following day we'll have a city tour of St. John and visit the New Brunswick Provincial Museum (and have refreshments) before heading to St. Steven and a stop at the Ganong Chocolate Factory outlet store. Moosehead Historical Society Tour
The premiere trip of the summer will be a four day August 16-19 trip to Prince Edward Island. You'll visit parts of Canada's smallest province that many visitors don't see as your tour guide, Dr. Everett Parker and his wife, Janet, are frequent visitors to the island, and you'll be treated like family. You'll visit everywhere from North Cape to East End and points in between. There will be live theater (included), Green Gables, Cavendish, Charlottetown, and much more. The price has not been set but likely will be between $600 and $800 per person. Moosehead Historical Society Tour
On September 8-9, you'll step back in time on an overnight trip to King's Landing and Fredericton, New Brunswick. There will be a city tour of the New Brunswick capital with a local guide, supper (included) at the Jubilee Buffet, overnight accommodations at the riverfront Holiday Inn, a riverboat cruise on the St. John River to Kings Landing, where docents in period costume will greet the boat and lead you on a tour of the restored settlement, a World Heritage Site. Lunch is included at Kings Landing in the historic Kings Head Inn.
