Katahdin Iron Works

beehiveKatahdin Iron Works is a state-maintained historic site with a restored blast furnace and a beehive-shaped charcoal kiln originally built in 1843. Nearly 2,000 tons of iron were produced here each year in the late nineteenth century, and the community even boasted a resort hotel.

Open from May to October, the seventeen-acre park has picnic facilities.
