CHAMBER RECEIVES AWARD
Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce executive director Dennis Lyford was presented with an award at the Heart of Maine RCN & D annul meeting held in Dexter on December 8, 1998.

The award was given in recognition of the role that the SPCCC played in bring the Fasttrac program to Piscataquis County.

Fasttrac is an entrepreneurial training course sponsor by Heart of Maine RD & C and of U of Southern Maine.

Seventeen students completed the 11-week course held in Dover-Foxcroft. A second course is being planned for 1999.

SNOWMOBILE MAPS READY

The SPCCC 1999 snowmobile maps are back from the printers.

Just in time for the first snow storm of the winter the SPCCC 1999 snowmobile map are out to start the new snowmobiling season.

If you would like a new map, stop in at the chamber of one of our many Sponsors to pick one up.

CHAMBER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The SPCCC is looking for volunteers to work in the chamber office. Duties include answering the phone, typing, and other simple office work.

SNOWMODILE MAILING CAMPAIGN

The SPCCC plans to start mailing snowmobile information packets to snowmobile clubs throughout Maine.

1999 PENQUIS VALLEY REGION EXPO UPDATE DECEMBER 1998
"Spring is right around the corner"

DISCOUNT SPECIAL ENDS JAN 10, 1999

Contact the Chamber before January the 10, and register for 1999 Expo and receive a $2.00 discount for each space purchased.

MAYO REGIONAL HOSPITAL INCREASE'S BOOTH
Mayo Regional Hospital has added one more space to its booth in this year's show. The Hospital booth will have 5 spaces making it the largest booth in the history of the Chamber show.

SMOKE HOUSE RETURNS
The Norridgewock Fire Dept. will bring their famous smokehouse to the Expo in 1999. The smokehouse, which teaches children how to escape a burning building, was a bit hit at the1997 Chamber show.

The SPCCC Board of Directors January meeting will be held on Thursday January 14, at 7 am at Chamber office in Dover-Foxcroft.

    WHITE HOLIDAY LIGHTS
    The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce, the town of Dover-Foxcroft, the D-F Fire Dept., and the Mocutoc Club teamed up again to bring the White Holiday lights to Dover-Foxcroft.

    The Fire Dept. outlined Central Hall, the Old Observer building and the Fire station in white lights.

    The white holiday lights were a featured on Channel 2 and in the Bangor Daily News.

    The winners of the Mocutoc club lighting Contest were: Bob Jackson on Lincoln St., South Street Market, and the Thompson Free Library.

    The Chamber would like to thank all the Businesses and homes who took part in the 1998 holiday white lights.

    NEW EXHIBITORS POLICY

    The SPCCC will issue two exhibitors badges for each spaced purchased for the 1999 Expo. These badges will allow the exhibitors to enter the show at no charge. Additional badges can be purchased for $1.00 each. Admission to the 1999 show will be $2.00 each. (12 an under no charge)
