Easter Hat Parade a big success
The 1st Annual Easter Hat Parade held Saturday, April 10th in Dexter and was even a bigger success than anticipated, according to Pastor Lois Field, whose church was one of (3) sponsors of the event. The ladies cooking the free breakfast, "lost count" after serving the 150th breakfast. There was an estimated 125 or more kids who participated in addition to all the parents, grandparents, older siblings and volunteers.

Dexter Regional Federal Credit Union, Dexter Regional Development Corporation and the United Methodist Church came together to sponsor the Easter Hat Parade which included a free breakfast for children up to 12 years of age, decorating Easter Hats, Easter Egg Hunt, Parade and Hat Contest.

The church vestry was filled to capacity as excited children choose from piles and piles of various craft supplies donated by Renys, DRDC members, DRFCU, and townspeople to create imaginative Easter Hats. Monty Moose and the Easter Bunny were on hand as well as a few other "bunnies."

After the breakfast, the hat making and Easter hunt, the children and the rest of the 'crowd' formed a parade and walked to the new DRFCU. Once there, the hat contestants were judged in (2) age groups, 0 to 7 and 8 to 12. All the children received a free Easter Bank and the winning hat contestants (in both age groups) received:

1st Prize $50 Monty Moose Savings Account
2nd Prize $30 Monty Moose Savings Account
3rd Prize $20 Monty Moose Savings Account

Coordinator DRDC President Judy Wilbur Craig would like to thank Pastor Lois Field, DRFCU, the Key Club, and all the other volunteers for helping and donating so much to make this an incredible success.
