Dover-Foxcroft is to host the First Ever Maine State Barbeque Championship

Kevin Flannery of Team Slow Pokes from Concord MADOVER-FOXCROFT - Dover-Foxcroft, Maine is to host the First Ever Maine State Barbeque Championship, which is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and Proclaimed by Governor King as a part of The Piscataquis Heritage Festival.

BBQ teams from all over the east coast will be competing in 5 categories (chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder, beef brisket and Anything Goes). Many of our certified judges are also coming from the east coast.

The BBQ teams will setup on Saturday and cook all through night. Taking great care of their BBQ Delights with special sauces and spices to make their unique flavors. Some of the teams will give you the chance to sample their delights.

The contest will be part of the 1st Annual Piscataquis Heritage Festival .The two day event will be held at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds and will feature Maine Blue Grass & Folk Music, a Maine Artisan Show, Family Fun with the PYMCA, a Cruise-in, a Traditional Skills Day by the CHET Committee and so much more. Sponsored by Mayo Regional Hospital and Southern Piscataquis County Chamber Of Commerce.

Are you the backyard king of your neighborhood or know someone who is? Do you have a mouthwatering homemade Barbeque Sauce; here is your chance to let the world know what you can do with a grill.

This contest is open to everyone. The Grilling Contest will start at 2 p.m. with Judging at 4 p.m. All Judging will follow the KCBS Guidelines. The Sauce contest judging will be at 3 p.m. The contest will be part of the 1st Annual Piscataquis Heritage Festival.
