FA Thanks Donors for Strong Support
Monday, October 27, 2003
Foxcroft Academy has announced that for the 2002-03 fiscal year, charitable gifts to the Academy totaled $247,795. The Annual Giving Campaign, which helps support the operational budget, raised a total of $58,680.35. In addition, $189,115 in charitable gifts were received to support various designated academic, athletic, and scholarship programs.

According to Mr. Jay Brennan, Associate Headmaster for Institutional advancement, We are and have always been fortunate and thankful to have alumni, parents, and community members who desire more for our students than what tuition revenues, which are capped by the state, can provide by themselves.

During the past seven years Foxcroft Academy Development Office has raised over $3 million dollars in charitable support for the Academy. Income from the schools endowment has provided another $1 million in support to the Academy during this same period. Mr. Allen Adriance, Interim Head of School added, The strong level of charitable support that the Academy has received in recent years has ultimately benefited the students and families whom we serve. These charitable dollars provide a level of academic programming, and a quality of facilities, that small towns often can not afford. I have been genuinely impressed with the generosity of our parents, community members, and alumni.

Mr. Adriance also announced the kick-off of the Academys 2003-04 Annual Giving Campaign, which will directly support the schools annual operating budget. Mr. Adriance commented, To balance our budget this year we have taken several cost saving steps as well as including $55,000 of revenue from our Annual Giving Campaign into our operational budget.

Foxcroft Academy was founded in 1823, as an independent school, when a group of local citizens led by James S. Holmes, Esq. pulled together the $1,500 required by the state legislature to grant the Academy its charter. It is obvious that the philanthropic spirit of those early citizens remains strong today and enables the Academy to fulfill its mission to the communities it serves.
